Drone Wallah is C.P. McDill’s project devoted solely to expansive drone works. This album and its predecessor were the fruits of a season of experimentation with the numerous means of creating droney sounds pleasing to the ear. It is by no means exhaustive, as there are millions of possible ways. This is just one brief period of exploration.

(Some of the drones have been altered from the versions appearing on Abecedronium.)

Rain is a series of conceptual tracks produced for Webbed Hand Records. Each “Rain” is a CD-length ambient recording ideal for quiet listening while meditating, writing, or going to sleep. Typically the recordings in this series are minimalistic soundscapes, with motifs played out cyclically rather than progressively, in order to induce relaxed states.

Drone Wallah

As of today, C.P. McDill has initiated a new project called Drone Wallah, and as the first official act of this project, five of his previous drone works have been re-attributed under this new name.

These are as follows:

Other than the renaming, these recordings are unchanged. If you have the originals, you’ll only need to change the artist credit in the ID3 tags of the mp3s, and download the revised cover.

This is a good opportunity to revisit these recordings, which were well-received when first released. It’s anticipated that some new work will be forthcoming soon, most likely “Rain 2″…

Ghostheory provided a set of dramatic and complex recordings that were then given radical processing and a final mix-and-mastering by Tree Helicopter in late October, 2010. The result is a three-part suite that evokes ever-changing movement and activity, filtered through curtains of darkness…
