Following on the success of Mystified’s “Bone Drones” series comes a new collection of drone works, this time drawing its sounds entirely from a wooden overtone flute.

“In August of 2011, Thomas of mystified purchased an overtone flute from artist Steve Brand. The flute, when played, hits a single note on various octaves. It produces a nice, breathy tone. Thomas immediately became interested in using sounds from the flute to create acoustic drones. Each of the 5 pieces in Overtone Drones was made using only sounds from the overtone flute. Tracks one through four each used a single note blown on the flute. Track five contains sounds from one through four run through further effects and processes. Thomas hopes you will enjoy these drones, although no synthesizers were used in their creation.”

The cryptically familiar Ice Guild Kaiser recently emerged from his workshop with this purpose-built addition to the popular “Rain” series.

This recording is a product of Ice Guild Kaiser’s research into Webbed Hand’s venerable “Rain” series, and it bears structural similarities to the earliest releases, while showing the influence of later mutations. He acknowledges that, at heart, “Rain” is functional music, a remote descendent of so-called elevator music, easy listening, new age and other genres composed for relaxation and unfocused audition.

Rain is a series of conceptual tracks produced for Webbed Hand Records. Each “Rain” is a CD-length ambient recording ideal for quiet listening while meditating, writing, or going to sleep. Typically the recordings in this series are minimalistic soundscapes, with motifs played out cyclically rather than progressively, in order to induce relaxed states.

“Bone Drones 3″, the concluding part of the Bone Drone trilogy, is darker than the first part and less abrasive than the second. All 4 pieces were created from 3 notes played on a muted trombone, then processed and mixed. I tried to focus a little more on progressions and chord structures on this release. There’s lots of bass in these, so headphones or good speakers are the best option.”

Drone Wallah is C.P. McDill’s project devoted solely to expansive drone works. This album and its predecessor were the fruits of a season of experimentation with the numerous means of creating droney sounds pleasing to the ear. It is by no means exhaustive, as there are millions of possible ways. This is just one brief period of exploration.

“The tracks are based on a concept I had when walking home late at night by this one corner where I always see 3 shadows of my self. I thought maybe one shadow was a different dimension of my self, one being depressed one being angry and one being timid all kind of fused into one being …each track represents that.” –J.P.

i AM esper is Justin Palmieri, whose work encompasses the genres of ambient, drone, minimalist and organic noise, created primarily with his baritone electric guitar, effects, and often including field recordings and found objects.

His discography includes cassettes, CDs and netlabel releases. This is his second release on Webbed Hand Records.

About the album:
“Zero Point”, the second album by Aristidis K., is an attempt to capture the
ambiguous feelings about the descent route of decay back to the starting point! This time Aristidis composes,arranges and records impromptu soundscapes using his guitar, a bass and some stompboxes from his pedalboard!

Aristidis K. is an experimental and ambient guitarist hailing from Greece.

Born in Ioannina, Aristidis began playing the guitar at the age of 15, and participated in several bands, both as a guitarist and composer and lyricist. After attending classes in general music theory and jazz theory, he became very interested in the traditional music forms from various countries around the world, influences that he incorporates into his own compositions and performances.

He is thrilled with the act of producing frequencies and creating atmospheres, and enjoys poetry, animation, painting and nearly every form of artistic expression.

About: [mikra] from Belarus recently performed live in Prague, dedicating his performance to the victims of a terrorist subway bombing in the city of Minsk on April 11, 2011. The performance was part of the “Gothic Park” festival, and took place at the Club “BIOS” on April 23.

“It pains me to write these lines, and to realize that such things occur to our people in this country. For many years under a dictatorship, we were already prepared for anything, but not to explosions which take the lives of peaceful, innocent citizens.
All have been used to the scant salaries and the high cost of housing and goods, all have been used to living in fear, used to thoughts of hopelessness under the incumbent powers, used to lawlessness and police brutality…
…and then an explosion in the underground [subway] …in rush hour. And it is clear (even to our friends in neighboring countries) whose hand is behind this business. But this changes nothing, practically, and that is terrible. Despite all this, we can’t make anything of it.
