About:
Ice Guild Kaiser is a recording project of C.P. McDill, and is considered a side project of Saluki Regicide, also available on Webbed Hand.
A further exploration of ideas touched upon in IGK’s previous release, Rain 2 [wh235]. Over a foundation of processed field recording, processed/effected improvisations on numerous instruments are introduced and faded into each other, slowly moving through themes and textures. A dark yet playful meditation on the need to embrace life despite the awareness of impermanence.
“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.”
–from John McCrae, In Flanders Fields (1915)
